Vin Rouge in Australia

We've had some questions about where we travelled in Australia (it's a big country). Our 18,000 kilometres took us around a little less than half the continent.

This is where we went, starting in Brisbane (half way up on the right) and progressing clockwise.

If you're really desperate for more detail, youngest son Alexander has put our route on Google Earth. Click here to download the map file then open it in Google Earth to see just about every road we travelled!

About Us

So we acquired a dog. I’d vetoed having one for many years despite pleas from the kids. As the kids grew into adults and could look after a dog themselves, I relented. Then both left, one to Melbourne, the other to the UK. And so we were left to raise a Beaglier puppy. Cito (that’s’ the dog’s name) is now two years old and has discarded most of his worst habits of chewing shoes, pens, spectacles, newspapers and fingers. Hooray, we can take a driving holiday again.

It won’t be such a long trip this time, but it should be interesting. Kim has found some tracks that we’ve not driven before and I have been busy servicing Vin Rouge and making a few adjustments here and there to make life easier on the road. The vehicle is now 23 years old and has around a quarter of a million miles clocked up so a bit of TLC is necessary now and again.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading of our previous adventures. This just might be one of the last before dotage takes over, or maybe not.
